摘要:
本报告将讨论如何确定有前途的研究课题，以及如何在顶级期刊上发表论文。对于教育和研究机构的众多研究人员而言， 在国际顶级期刊发表论文至关重要。本报告涉及的话题对于科学研究和论文写作有着重要作用，包括：
-如何判断期刊是否属于顶尖系列？
-如何选择和确定研究课题？
-如何组织和撰写论文？
-论文的评审和发表流程是什么样的？
本报告将重点列出研究人员应该和不应做的事项。此外， 基于我的个人研究和指导博士生的经验，我将介绍一种名为“方法树” 的研究策略。“方法树” 是一套系统性策略，可以用来组织文献综述，评估研究课题的价值，促进研究人员之间的交流， 全方位展示所涉及的研究问题。本次研讨会应该能够帮助学者重新审视自己作为研究者、作者和评审人的经历，研讨会将基于与会者的兴趣点以互动形式进行。 欢迎大家提问和发表评论。

简介
史建军博士是美国佐治亚理工学院工业与系统工程学院和机械工程学院联合聘用的 CarolynJ.Stewart 讲席教授。他于 2008 年加入佐治亚理工学院，此前曾任密西根大学工程学院 G. Lawton和 Louise G. Johnson 讲席教授。 史建军分别于 1984 和 1987 年， 在北京工业学院（现北京理工大学）取得学士和硕士学位； 1992 年， 他在美国密西根大学获机械工程博士学位。史博士的研究领域为数据驱动制造。他的方法集成了系统信息学、高级统计学和控制理论，并将工程系统模型与数据科学方法相融合，用于改进制造和服务系统的设计和操作。史建军团队开发的技术已广泛应用于各种生产系统，经济影响巨大。 史博士是运筹学与管理学研究协会质量、统计和可靠性分会的创始人兼主席，目前担任国际工业与系统工程师学会（ IISE）旗舰期刊《IISETransactions》的主编。他是美国机械工程学会（ ASME）会士、国际工业与系统工程师学会（ IISE） 会士、 运筹学和管理科学学会（INFORMS）会士、 国际质量研究院（IAQ）院士、 美国国家工程院（NAE） 院士。史博士出色的教育和科研成果为他赢得了包括 IISE David F. Baker 杰出科研奖（科研领域的最高荣誉）和 IIE Albert G. Holzman 杰出教育奖（教育领域的最高荣誉） 等重大奖项，这两大奖项均来自国际工业与系统工程师学会。

Abstract:
This presentation will discuss how to identify promising research topics, and how to publish papers in top Journals. Publishing in top international journals is important to many researchers in educational and research institutions. This presentation will discuss various topics important for research and paper writing, including
- How to judge if a journal is among the top ranking?
- How to select and define a research topic?
- How to organize and write a paper?
- What is the reviewing and publishing process for a paper?
The presentation will highlight the “dos and don’ts”. In addition, a “methodology tree” strategy will be introduced based on my experience of research and supervision of Ph.D. students. The“methodology tree” is a systematic strategy that can be used to organize the literature reviews, evaluate contributions of a research topic, facilitate communications among researchers, and provide a big picture of research problems involved. The workshop should help scholars to reflect on their own experiences as researchers, authors, and reviewers. It will be interactive and tailored to the interests of those attending. Biographical Sketch — Jianjun (Jan) Shi

Dr. Jianjun Shi is the Carolyn J. Stewart Chair and Professor in School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, with a joint appointment in School of Mechanical Engineering, both at Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 2008, he was the G. Lawton and Louise G. Johnson Professor of Engineering at the University of Michigan. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1984 and 1987, and his
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1992. Dr. Shi’s research is in the area of data enabled manufacturing. His methodologies integrate system informatics, advanced statistics, and control theory, and fuse engineering systems models with data science methods for design and operational improvements of manufacturing and service systems. The technologies developed by Dr. Shi’s research group have been widely implemented in a wide variety of production systems and produced significant economic impacts. Dr. Shi is the founding chair of the Quality, Statistics and Reliability (QSR) Subdivision at INFORMS, and currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the IISE Transactions, the flagship journal of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). He is a Fellow of IISE, ASME, and INFORMS, an Academician of the International Academy for Quality, and a member of National of Academy of Engineering (NAE). Dr. Shi received numerous awards for his research and teaching, including the highest recognition in research (IISE David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award) and the highest recognition in
education (the IIE Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award), both from IISE.
